This is a ode to summer,
I really feel the fall autumn weather creeeeeping on in. Each day is a little cooler than the last with a random "Indian" summer feeling day here and there. I even think the air smells and feels a bit different than summer.
These are some items I will miss during this fall slide into winter and back around.....

G-of-the-sea
G-of-the-sea, is a mermaid inspired scent that Gwen Stefani created. I am a big fan of her other scents of course, So I really wanna try this perfume. I am pretty sure it was released earlier this year, Now I just gotta get my little hands on some! The scent is described as "fresh, aquatic fragrance with a dry down of sun-drenched woods. Delight in juicy splashes of crisp apples, magical water lily, and the tangy sweet surge of crushed berries. Soak in heart filled with flirty bouquets of dewy freesia, whispers of pink peony, and delicate kisses of jasmine petals. Finally, leave an enchanting trail of smooth, sun drenched woods, sensual, transparent musks, and luscious amberwood". Sounds complex and over powering.. I only hope it smells as mysterious and intoxicating as I would imagine.

Ombre Hair
At first I was really on the fence with this look, only because I bleach my hair a very pale blonde hence any sight of long roots can be quite bothering for me in general. But, after stumbling on some very unique or exotic looking versions of this hair coloring trend.. I think I might realllly like it now. I am even tempted to have dark hair all over again. The style is sort of high fashion meets/ unkempt rocker /bohemian hippy chic. It looks best in my opinion with black or dark brown roots / most of hair and a lighter or honey color at the tips.
Here are some of my favorite examples.

Faux Tale Design
I found this company while stumbling around trying to find out who made some rings ke$ha wore to some music awards which turned out to be (CharlesAlbert). ANYWHOO apparently there is a big stirr up around eco friendly feathers, And the designer of most of ke$has feathers is, Faux Tale Design. I love their designs, models even site layout. More so I love that they are eco friendly! It is really refreshing to know that they don't have a production line in china or somewhere for low budget animal farming/slaughter/processing.
BTW: I ALSO ran across people assuming that all the hair feathers are coming from roosters that are just being slaughtered for this purpose- The roosters / feathers that are NORMALLY used for fly fishing... which I review in this post HERE.
Dujour Magazine does a amazing review on faux tale design and it is able to be viewed HERE.
preview for the review below :)
I simply love almost allll of their designs from head dresses, clothing and other accessories. They have such a unique brand with natural touches. The layout of the website to the slightly creepy painted models really gives off such a high fashion vibe. A must see to say the least. Using eco friendly recycled or natural shed quills, feathers and furs.

Whiting farms feathers fly fishing and hair extension
I have heard so much annoying things revolving around this subject. I'd like to touch base on some random facts and disprove some uneducated ideas about this product.
Roosters are not bred for the sole purpose of hair extensions ( while this might happen on small scale with 1 on 1 communication between a salon and farmer) They are not solely bred for hair extensions. While this trend is really spreading like wild fire this fact is untrue.
These feathers are originally used for FLY FISHING. They come in all different sizes and colors. Fly fishermen are extremely upset at the vast outbreak of salons using their hackle for hair because this has led to a mass shortage of supplies for the fishermen themselves. Even calling/walking in tackle shops asking for this item being a woman/possible hair dresser could get you a rude response, Which I can understand. The distributors and shops that carry them are back ordered at sometimes a year for these high demand feathers.
The actual company whiting has even cut off the salons from ordering from them wholesale. I am interested to see if the actual price of the saddles goes up from the origin down- since the original price ranges from about $10-$60 and can be seen with high inflation prices on sites such as ebay going for up to $500.00 each "saddle". The salons charge $5 per feather.
I believe the only solution to this other than the fishing community hoping the fad goes out of style as quickly as possible and things return to normal for the tackle shops...is for Whiting themselves to come out with a "Salon" grade package which they could even up-mark considering how much the salons are actually charging and then sell the normal saddles for their normal pricing to the tackle shops- At any rate some might opt to clean out the tackle shop grade hackle as well. WHO KNOWS. But that is a option.
Ke$ha and Steven Tyler might be the ones to get most of the "credit" for their hair decorations, However Ke$ha has stated several times that her hair feather extensions are creulty free and are from a eco friendly designer named Kate- Her website is fauxtaledesign, she creates many other eco friendly cruelty free designer items (full review can be found in my blog under faux tale design HERE).
There are more farmers produce the famous style of feathers used for extensions but WhitingFarms is by far the most well known company their site and back story can be found at their website whitingfarms . A general mis information I keep coming crossed is, that the birds are being produced and slaughtered merely for hair extensions to be worn in girls hair, While this trend migggghtt just be making the production pick up or have more bred for product supply and demand. This is not a true statement like I said before the roosters were bred for years before this trend ever hit the scene for fly fishing and will continue to be bred for fly fishing long after ladies stop wearing them in their hair ( if that ever happens haha).
These celebrities are really being scrutinized for wearing them and making them "popular" which is a bit unfair, as it is each persons choice to wear them and to educate themselves on the whereables and production of the feathers. As well as individual responsibility to not partake in events/fads/trends that are apart of something you don't agree with. It doesn't take a genius to guess where the feathers come from and that they are natural. I am also positive most of the ladies in the public eye we see wearing them have most of their styles and fashions picked out by stylists anyway.

DREAMS OF NORWAY
My latest obsession
I have been so inspired by precious and semi precious stones/minerals lately. The uniqueness of each stone is so beautiful and truly one of a kind. Every cut, color and detail is unique to each stone and piece created from it. I am so happy to be able to share this company with everyone; Dreams of Norway has such a unique hand made style. Almost rustic, highlander, viking style to their jewelry. They are featured on notjustalabel.com with other fashion forward designers list of designers and their work
just a very few of my favorites are;
a_knackfuss ,fannieschiavoni,georgiahardinge,katarzyna_konieczka,artifactsbycasey andy_lifschutz (of course I will probably create another post for each of them separately at some point in the future.) Each of the designers on the website notjustalabel are very abstract and no two designers make the same kind of things..there are some jewelry/accesory designers, high fashion, etsy shops, and even people that have worked for well known labels such as victoria secret. A wide selection of designers to browse through. Most certainly inspiring to my new collection for Ten Pennies Boutique
Brief Bio of Dreams of Norway;Dreams of Norway consists of designer duo Nina Einarsen and Iselin Strømsvåg. Together they create unique jewelry in materials such as silver, stone, swarovskicrystals, feathers, wood, horn, and leather. Each necklace is handmade so no two are alike. Dreams of Norway balance their design between the rough and the fine, the masculine and the feminine, the soft and hard, inspired by the contrast filled and varied Norwegian nature.
